The Stadium Rowhouses are five residential units designed to provide a visual buffer between the University of Arizona‘s 6th St. Parking garage and the Rincon Heights neighborhood. Working with the University’s Planning Design and Construction Department and the Rincon Heights Neighborhood Association, Architecture students designed a master plan for the long and narrow strip of land, and then developed permit drawings for the first two units. Subsequent classes developed the designs further as they constructed the rowhouses.

The following schemes were masterplan ideas chosen by the neighborhood association and UA PDC in 2015 for further development.

SCHEME ONE

Student author: Kyle Roehm
Jury comments: Interior street concept – nice experience for homeowners but lots may be difficult to subdivide in this configuration. Includes a community garden space. Affordable. Facades may need more details for curb appeal.

SCHEME TWO

Student author: Jessica McQuillen
Jury Comments: Generous outdoor space – good relationship of indoor living rooms to outdoor spaces. Easy to subdivide parcels. Affordable. Facades may need more details for curb appeal.

SCHEME THREE

Student author: Audrey Gusick
Jury comments: Good relationship of indoor living rooms to outdoor spaces. Landscape is well integrated. Easy to subdivide parcels. Affordable. Street facades are very attractive.
